This capacity-building training is for anyone who supports, makes decisions about, or encounters unaccompanied children through their job or volunteer role. The course is particularly well suited to those who play a significant role in supporting unaccompanied children.
The training is suitable for all experience levels. For experienced practitioners the training deepens knowledge and creates time to reconnect with children’s realities. In particular, organisations or teams looking to level-up their capacity for supporting unaccompanied children, and those looking for a guided space within which to also learn from each other, will benefit greatly.
The course content builds on that of Standing with Joey, Ali and Afran, and includes role play exercises and a Q&A session with a young person with lived experience of arriving in the UK alone as a child.

Participant Reviews
"This training should be mandatory for Social Workers and teachers that work with unaccompanied asylum seeking children."
Mery Mekonen - Education Casework Manager
"A rare opportunity to understand the journey of an unaccompanied child, facilitated by a young person who once was one. A unique space to reflect on and consider the realities of children's journey and the impact this will have on them once they have reached the UK."
Paul Williams - Supported Lodgings Caseworker
"The training allowed me the space to place myself in the mind of a child, and to understand how we can help them build up resilience as they journey in life."
Denise McClean - Supervising Social Worker
